Inspiring Pathways to Mana-Motuhake

At MUMA, whānau comes first.

Our mission is to work with families to help them take advantage of all the opportunities available. Our integrated approach means you get the right advice, and access to the right services, when you need it most - right here in your community. Along the way, we are committed to helping each family member reach their goals and realise their potential.

Whānau Services

Through Whānau Ora, Kotahitanga and Foodbank services, we provide wrap-around support to provide sustenance for your whānau in times of need. We can be your voice and advocate on your behalf.

Our Marae

Whether we are rallying for a cause or celebrating with our whānau, Ngā Whare Waatea Marae is where we come together to connect with each other and support our South Auckland community.

He Poutama Rangatahi

We nurture youth employment pathways that are kaupapa Māori driven. Rangatahi on this programme, and their whānau, have access to MUMA's wrap around services and the cultural support of Ngā Whare Waatea.

Waatea Music

Waatea Music supports, promotes and develops contemporary Māori music. We provide a National and International platform for Māori and Māori speaking artists.

Connect To Culture

Te Reo Māori is a fantastic way to strengthen wellbeing. We are passionate about our language and invite all within our community to join us for free classes, held within the comfort of our supportive Marae environment.

UMA Broadcasting

Established in 1999 UMA Broadcasting was created to seek and develop opportunities for urban Māori in broadcasting. It operates dynamic multi-platform media from a Māori perspective.

Justice Services

Through Mau Te Rongo - restorative justice, iwi and community justice panels, our trained facilitators walk alongside you, helping victims and offenders to reduce the impact of crime. We work hard to achieve good outcomes for victims.

Waatea School

Waatea School provides a strong, culturally enriched, safe whānau-centric learning environment. We encourage our tamariki to be proud of their identity and culture and inspire a love of learning.

Community Events

Every year MUMA is host to a variety of events that help highlight and support our hāpori. We enjoy the vibrancy of coming together and celebrating our unique achievements in the special and unique communities we are a part of.

NEWS AND VIEWS – MUMA in the Community

Every day, MUMA team members and people in our community are doing incredible things to empower urban Māori and their whānau to live and work to their full potential. We believe in the life changing importance of building social connections and whakapapa ties while advocating for the rights of all whānau in our communities. Visit us here at our website, as well as our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages for news and updates on what's happening within our organisation, and within the hāpori.
