Māori Language Pathways

Te Tini Matahīapo is a marae based Māori language lesson opportunity for Ngā Whare Waatea Marae whānau and community and is funded by Te Mātāwai.

There are 3 different language levels taught each week. 

  • Ngā Manu Pīpī (Beginners): Every Tuesday at 6:00pm - 8:00pm. 

  • Ngā Manu Pīrere (Intermediate): Every Tuesday at 6:00pm - 8:00pm. 

  • Ngā Manu Rere (Advanced): Every Tuesday at 6:00pm - 8:00pm.

We proudly introduce our kaiako who have extensive knowledge and practice in the field of teaching te reo Māori.

  • Liz Ross-Collier: Ngā Manu Pīpī (Beginners Class).

  • Moehau Husband: Ngā Manu Pīrere (Intermediate Class).

  • Te Mete Lowman: Ngā Manu Rere (Advanced Class).
