Marae Booking: Children’s Act 2014 & Child Protection Terms and Conditions

Important: The Marae is located on or immediately adjacent to an operating school with children aged 5–14 years.
By submitting this form, you acknowledge that the safety and wellbeing of these tamariki is the paramount priority at all times during your booking.

1. Child Safety is Paramount

1.1 Obligation to Protect:
You agree to uphold the principles of the Children’s Act 2014 and ensure the safety of all children on or near the Marae grounds.

2. Contact and Supervision of School Children

2.1 Unsupervised Contact:
No member of your group may have unsupervised contact with any school child.
Unsupervised contact means any interaction without the continuous presence of a parent, guardian, or approved, safety-checked school staff member.

2.2 Restricted Areas:
Your group must stay within the designated booked areas and must not enter school-only spaces such as classrooms or playgrounds.

2.3 During School Hours (8:30 am – 3:15 pm, weekdays):

• Remain only in approved Marae areas.

• Use the designated access points provided by Marae management.

• Do not approach or interact with children in school uniform unless it is for immediate safety or emergency purposes.

3. Reporting Concerns

3.1 Mandatory Reporting:
If you see or hear anything that raises concerns of child abuse, neglect, or harm, you must immediately contact the School Principal, Zara Buckman – 021 231 0970.
