From the Marae to the Boardroom
The Regulatory Standards Bill….. Aue, beware of the wolf in sheep’s clothing

My thoughts on the Regulatory Standards Bill and why it’s the defeated Treaty Principles Bill in sheep’s clothing.

From the Marae to the Boardroom
I have created a space called “From the Marae to the Boardroom” because that’s the journey I walk every day. As the CEO of MUMA, I carry with me my experiences as an academic, the lessons of the marae, and the hopes of our whānau into boardrooms, policy tables, and organisational spaces where decisions are made.
Here, I’ll share reflections on leadership, culture, community, and the challenges and triumphs of running a kaupapa Māori organisation. Some posts will speak to strategy and systems change; others might be a kōrero from the heart — about whānau, resilience, or moments that matter.
Whether you’re part of our MUMA whānau, a fellow changemaker, or someone curious about Māori leadership in action, this is a place for insight, honesty, and connection.
Because leading from the marae to the boardroom isn’t just a job — it’s a responsibility, a privilege, and a pathway forward for us all.
Tania Rangiheuea, Chief Executive of MUMA.
